If like me you’re a discerning everyday bearded fella, then you’ll be quite sick of hearing ”Mate…beards are out” and reading ‘BEARDS ARE DEAD’ usually from clean shaven beard haters who who’s five o’clock shadow is due 3 weeks from Wednesday.
Well chaps I think it’s clear to say we are here to stay and always have been! Heres a little advice from me on beard care and how you need a little of Mo Bro’s in your life.
Treat your beard like you would your hair. Naturally beards are thicker and more brittle so you’ve got to look after it. Don’t wash it with regular head shampoo (you will dry it out) instead wash it with a naturally sourced beard wash stay away from heavy perfumes because its under your nose and sneezing isn’t sexy.
In fact..scrub it
Shorter beards around 3cm and under can be washed with regular facial scrubs, you can get in to the skin so treat it the same as your face!
After washing your beard, towel dry it and put some welly in it! I would recommend getting in there wth some balm probably twice a week. A little goes a long way so soften that bad boy up.
Some people think oil just makes it shiny and smell good? Actually oils work wonders for growth and protection. Coating the shaft of the hair follicle with oil and it restores the natural moisture in the follicle and stops the hair becoming brittle. Don’t overdo it though…
Im notorious for letting the growth get a little out of control, so tame it with a good clipping and shaping every one is different but rectangularly around the jaw always sculpts the jaw. For the moustache theres no real need to cut around the lip just to stop it going in the mouth (even though its a nightmare) just scissor cut lightly and wax it in place, it’s must for the longer moustache.
Now there are hundreds of companies selling everything you need but recently I tried out Mo Bro’s and boy do they puts all your eggs in one basket! If you are just starting out on your beard quest or a long standing member then these guys have just the thing for you!
